Cleaning vintage pearl jewelry is easy
2010-07-07 17:26:00
Whether you have a vintage pearl necklace or a pair of pearl earrings, you can't help but admire their glow. Cleaning is important to ensure your vintage pearl jewelry lasts a lifetime.
If your pearl jewelry has been loose or strung, you can find one leg of clean pantyhose when cleaning vintage pearl jewelry. Make a knot on the pantyhose close to the pearls to keep them in place. Prepare a container and make a cleaning solution. Then pour the solution into the container with warm water.
Put the pantyhose containing your pearls gently into the warm water bath. Swirl them around in the water. Do remember not to grind or rub the pearls together directly. Around few minutes, you will remove the pantyhose from the solution and untie the knot. Take your pearls out and lay them on a towel to dry. If your vintage pearl jewelry is not clean entirely, you can use a soft wet cloth to remove the dirt carefully and gently avoid rubbing them because this can remove the nacre. Store your pearls only after they have completely dried.
At last, you should store your vintage pearl jewelry in special jewelry boxes to avoid being scratched by other jewelry. Wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth after daily wear to prevent buildup of oils, makeup, and other pollutants.
