History of diamond

Diamonds are the symbol of eternal love and romance with its special hardness. Like true love, a diamond’s light and brilliance will not diminish with time. Known as one of the hardest substances on earth, diamonds are thought to be billions of years old.
Diamond is the April birthstone. The word diamond originates from the Greek "adamas," meaning indomitable. It is believed that diamond can offer protection and strength in the face of adversity. The Greeks believed diamonds were tears of the god, splinters of stars, or crystallized lightning. Ancient Hindus believed diamonds was created form lightning bolts.
The earliest written record of diamonds dates back to around 500 BC and India diamond mine was the only one until the 18th century. The first account of using a diamond in an engagement ring was in 1477 with the engagement of the future Holy Roman Emperor Maximillian .
During the middle ages, diamonds were thought to have healing properties for illness, especially problems relating to brain disease and the pituitary gland.
A diamond is a symbol of everlasting love. There is no more convincing a promise of an enduring relationship than the brilliant gemstone that has endured in people's hearts throughout the history.
