2010-06-21 09:23:00
Crystal flowers made from crystal beads are fast and simple to create. You can seed beads and beading thread. Now let’s follow this guide to hand make crystal flower.
Preparation
Before you make the crystal flower, you should make some preparation. The crystal beads make up the majority of the flower while the seed beads are used to trim the petals and hold the design together. A thin but strong beading thread is necessary when working with crystal beads because of their sharp edges. The beads are sewn together freehand, so no knowledge of special beading stitches is required.
Process
Step 1 Cut two 12-inch lengths of 22-gauge craft wire. Thread the needle with the beading thread and string one seed crystal, Bend the wire together at either end of the beads to form a circle. Twist the wires together twice as they exit the beads.
Step 2 Skip the last seed bead strung and pass the needle back through the rondelle and the first seed bead, coming out in the opposite direction as the 8-inch tail of thread.
Step 3 Bend one wire over the top of the center of the crystal bead circle. Bend one wire underneath the center of the circle. Thread a 4 mm crystal over the open end of the wire on top of the beaded circle. Fit the 4 mm crystal bead into the center of the circle. The crystal bead circle is the center of the flower.
Step 4 Switch the needle to the tail of the thread and knot it with the working thread tight against the ring of seed beads. Pass the needle with the tail thread through the ring of seed beads once, then knot again and pass the tail through the center of the rondelle before cutting. Return the needle to the working thread. And then repeat the steps above until you finish the bead process.
Step 5 Tie the thread off with a couple of knots on the wrong side of the flower, then weave in the end of the thread through a few beads before cutting it off.
Now, you have learned the method of hand making crystal flower, you can have a try and have fun.
